How we found the first star ever?

Image
13.6 billion years later, astronomers have found clues to our earliest stars When the first stars lit the universe, it was cold and full of gas An artist’s depiction of the earliest stars, which are thought to have been large and blue. The first observation of the earliest stars in the Universe suggests they were forming about 180 million years after the Big Bang. The radio signal used to make this observation, though indirect, backs up some theoretical models about the evolution of the early Universe. In the beginning, the Universe was made mainly of gas — mostly hydrogen — and a heavy, mysterious material known as dark matter. Over time, pockets of hydrogen gas collapsed to form the first stars, and there was light. But no one knew when exactly these cosmic lights first turned on, until a team of astronomers picked up a faint radio signal that traveled 13.6 billion years to reach Earth. The radio signal, described today  in the journal  Nature , tells u...

5 mysterious sounds ever recorded

Image
Will the mysteries behind these strange sounds ever be solved...? 5. UVB-76 Numbers Station UVB-76, also known as "The Buzzer,” has been showing up on shortwave radios for decades. It broadcasts at 4625 kHz and after repeated buzzing noises, a voice occasionally reads numbers and names in Russian. The source and purpose has never been determined. 4. The Bloop Bloop is the big kahuna in unexplained sounds. In 1997 (a big year for auditory ocean mysteries), an extremely powerful, ultra-low-frequency sound was detected at various listening stations thousands of miles apart and traced to somewhere west of the southern tip of South America. The sound only lasted about a minute and and was heard repeatedly over the summer, but not since. Bloop is generally believed to be the sound of a massive icequake, but scientists haven’t totally ruled out the possibility that the sound originated from something “organic.”  That’s where things get eerie. If an animal was t...

Only country located in all 4 hemispheres

Chota muh, badi baat   perfectly describes Kiribati. It is a country with many peculiarities and not many know about it. In fact, you mighthave heardof it for the very first time today. But here's Kiribati's USP - it's an amalgamation of various geographic anomalies. Reddit user   evening_raga created 3 maps that throwlight upon the entity that Kiribati is. First being that it's the only nation in the whole world that falls in all the four hemispheres. Source:  Reddit/evening_raga It's the country that's furthest from the Greenwich meantime at GMT +14, making it the first country that welcomes the New Year. This was purposely done to keep the working week same for the whole country rather than have it split over the international date line. Source:   Reddit/evening_raga Other interesting facts about the country include that it's made of 33 atolls and reef islands, out of which only 21 happen to be inhabited. It is the 197th most populous count...

Cars that can morph into helicopters!

Image
People are still trying to make cars that morph into helicopters A collaboration between Italdesign, Airbus, and Audi keeps the dream alive Last year, Airbus unveiled a  truly bizarre concept  at the Geneva Motor Show: a car-drone-train mash-up with the effervescent name of Pop.Up. But if the whole thing seemed a bit half-baked and lackluster then, Pop.Up is back for this year’s show with an entirely refreshed look courtesy of Audi. I saw it in person here in Geneva, and it’s every bit as unbelievable in reality as it is in pictures. Dubbed Pop.Up Next, this year’s concept is built around a two-seater Smart Car-sized monocoque, which Airbus calls the passenger capsule. The capsule can ride along on a base of wheels as a regular car or, with the help of a humongous drone module, be hoisted into the air for vertical flight. The modular capsules can also connect to each other to form a train-like vehicle. Audi is contributing its battery technology and automatio...

Dare to drive world's fastest wheels?

Top Fuel   dragsters  are the quickest accelerating racing cars in the world and the fastest sanctioned category of drag racers, with the fastest competitors reaching speeds of  335 miles per hour (539   km/h)  and finishing the  1,000 foot (305   m)  runs in 3.64 seconds. Top Fuel Dragster Final at LVMS April 1st 2012. Spencer Massey(Fram) Beats Antron Brown(Arron's) Because of the speeds, this class almost exclusively races to only a 1,000   ft distance, and not the traditional (1,320   ft).  The shortening of the distance was used in the  FIA  at some tracks, and as of 2012 is now the standard Top Fuel distance by the FIA. The  International Hot Rod Association , which now sanctions Top Fuel in Australia, dropped the distance in September 2017 after Santo Rapisarda, a car owner who often runs NHRA races in the United States, pushed for the change. A top fuel dragster accelerates from a standstill to 10...
